Burgers

In an air fryer, burgers cooks at about ~356 °F for 10 min per ~200 g. 12 models from 5 brands publish their own figure for it below, and whichever you follow, the food is only safe at 160 °F internal (USDA).

Generic reference

~356 °F·180 °C · 10 min

For ~200 g. Not specific to any appliance — see the table below for a real measurement.

Safety (USDA)

160 °F internal minimum

13th food added to the corpus, after a targeted search of roughly 40 additional air-fryer manuals found 'Burgers'/'Beef Burgers'/'Hamburger' among the most recurring items with no matching foodId — present in at least Chefman (3 models), Gourmia (2 models), Midea, Philips and Russell Hobbs (5 models). Grinding can spread surface bacteria through the whole patty, which is why USDA gives ground beef a flat 160°F/71°C target with no rest and no doneness gradient, unlike the whole-cut steak rule in steak.json (145°F/63°C + 3-minute rest). Verified directly against FSIS guidance (see sources) rather than assumed from steak.json.

Prep

  • Fresh or frozen ground beef patties
  • 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio typical
  • Season as desired
  1. Place the patties in a single layer in the basket, without overcrowding.
  2. Cook at the temperature and time given, flipping halfway through.
  3. Confirm doneness with a probe thermometer inserted sideways into the center of the patty — 71°C (160°F), with no rest and no notion of a pink center or a cooked-to-a-point preference (USDA ground-meat rule).
  4. Color is not a reliable safety indicator — a patty can turn brown before it reaches a safe temperature, or stay pink after it has. Always confirm with a thermometer.

Done when: 160°F / 71°C at the center, no rest — ground beef follows the USDA ground-meat rule, not the whole-cut steak rule (145°F/63°C + 3-minute rest, see steak.json)

If yours isn't in the table above, the honest answer is that we have no figure for it — the generic reference at the top of this page is the best we can do, and it's a reference, not a measurement. Your own timing, on your own model, is what closes that row.

Add your model's burgers time

Takes about a minute — this food arrives already selected, and only the temperature and the time are required. Nothing publishes straight away: every submission is moderated first.

What the 12 charts disagree about

The spread, stated plainly. The 12 charts above come from 5 brands. Between them they span 8 to 21 minutes, and 350 °F to 450 °F on the dial. Ranked by the middle of each published range, the shortest chart is Chefman TurboFry-Touch-XL8Qt at 9 min and 380 °F; the longest is Philips HD9270_91R1 at 16–21 min and 400 °F — 2.1× as long. Both are quoted from the manufacturer's own chart. Neither is corrected here, and no average of the two is published: a mean of those numbers would be wrong for every machine in the table at once.

The variable most charts leave out. 5 of the 12 charts state a portion weight, covering 227 g to 454 g; the other 7 state none at all. The 13-minute gap between the shortest and the longest chart above means much less than it looks when part of the table does not say what portion it was written for. Where a manual gives no weight, the column above is empty — nothing is filled in.

By appliance format. Split by basket layout, the same charts read: single basket 8–21 min over 8 charts, and dual basket 8–12 min over 4 charts. Whether that difference is the format or the manufacturer's chart-writing habits is exactly what the format pages take apart, brand by brand, instead of asserting.

Where this page's own reference sits. The ~356 °F / 10 min at the top is a generic starting point, not a measurement — it sits inside the 350 °F–450 °Fthe manuals publish, and inside their 8–21 min. Use it when your model isn't in the table. When it is, the manufacturer's own row is the better number, and the cook time calculator gives it to you directly. None of this touches the safety line: 160 °F internal comes from the USDA, not from any manual above, and it is the one figure on this page a manufacturer's chart cannot override.
